Workout Fit – My Favorite Brands and Stores for Fitness Gear (Part I)

There’s no better feeling than leaving the house for a workout feeling confident in your outfit. It’s no runway show, but if you’re lacking body confidence, it helps to wear clothes that make you look great and feel awesome. Like they always say, look good feel good! I used to dress in my pajamas practically, and I noticed when I felt unhappy with how I looked, I wouldn’t perform as well. Check out the following brands and stores I find my gym clothes that are comfortable and affordable.

MARSHALLS (tops)

Marshall’s is the best for cheap fitness clothes BECAUSE they sell brand names like under armor, adidas, and nike for more than half the original price because its out of season. They also have cheap tanks and t-shirts for sweaty workouts. I get a ton of my sweatshirts, zip ups, and tank tops from here!

Marshalls also sells some leggings found on Amazon like the brand (90 degree) which I’ve heard nothing but great things about. So if you’re looking to order Amazon leggings, see if Marshalls carries them so you can try them on!

AMAZON (tops)

Amazon is EVERYTHING. Aside from my leggings – which Amazon does have some awesome lulu dupes (I haven’t tried yet) – I buy all of my bottoms from the brands mentioned below. In regards to tops these are my favorites!

This shirt is a total Gymshark dupe

These crop shirts and the long sleeve version are cheap, simple, and comfortable. I own at least 5 in each color of both and I wear them all the time! (Light grey is not the best for pit stains)

These tanks are awesome too.

$22.00 for 3

I will also buy Men’s HANES T-shirts for $5 !!! And I’ll cut them into a crop!

My Issue with Lululemon

When I first became a trainer, my goal was to finally own a pair of Lululemon Leggings. Everyone had them, as they were supposedly the best piece of clothing that every female had to own. Lululemon Align Leggings *Cue the angelic music*

WELL.

When I first tried on my first pair, my first thoughts were… “Wow. So buttery. Silky. Am I even wearing pants? WOW! Is that MY butt??”

Then, after about 10x wearing them, I thought – either I’m losing a ton of weight, or these leggings are stretching…

I figured, maybe it was because I was washing them in hot water and drying them even though I wasn’t supposed to. So, I bought a new pair, washed them inside out in cold water, and air dried them. Nope. Still stretchy. They became thinned out leggings that showed off my every flaw, fell down after 3 steps, and looked horrible on me.

Now, I know. Aligns are NOT meant for working out. (I just recently found this out lol!) BUT thats not what 90% of us know, as everywhere I turn I find a girl working out in Lulu Aligns…

If you’re going to spend $100+ on leggings, they better work wonders on my body. And frankly, Aligns do the opposite. I haven’t tried any other types of lulus, because I know that some of them ARE great. BUT after finding these next few gems I’m about to mention (that are much more affordable, fit nicer, last longer, AND dont need to be hand washed by the legging gods), I dont plan on trying any others.

DoYouEven

DoYouEven is a relatively new brand all over Instagram.. I was skeptical at first, until my coworker raved to me about them nearly every time I saw her. I was still unsure, but I ordered two pairs anyway. I bought the Hyperflex seamless leggings….

Well….. They are now my favorite thing in the world.

The fit is amazing, they’re insanely comfortable, they stay up, and cameltoe is minimal in these. I LOVE them!

They also have the Impact Seamless which are awesome too. The fit isn’t exactly the same, but they sure do hold everything in place!

And lastly from DoYouEven are their Trinity Seamless Leggings which I am also obsessed with. When I wore these to the gym. at least 8 girls asked where they were from… well here they are!

Aerie

When I began training, almost every client of mine came in wearing these. So I HAD to know what the hype was all about. These leggings LOOK like Lulu Aligns. They are super thin (not see through) but very cozy. I’d recommend sizing down, as they run a little bigger. The forest green and the maroon I’d recommend saving for a less sweaty workout, as you can usually see all the sweat stains… but for the price, they’re amazing. They ALWAYS have sales too, so look out for that!

These are the ” Play Real Me ” leggings. They have a few other types, but these are the lulu Align dupes.

Bombshell Sportswear

My client got me a pair of these leggings almost 2 years ago and after wearing them maybe 100 times they’re just NOW starting to show some wear and tear. I love them! They’re higher up in price compared to DoYouEven and Aerie, but for the price, I think they’re worth it, compared to Lulu Aligns at least.

These are the leggings I own in a few different colors!

Putting it All Together

My Adidas hat and Nike sweatshirt I bought from Marshalls! The white top underneath my sweatshirt is mentioned above from Amazon, and my leggings are Bombshell Sportswear. No need to spend a million dollars on in-season name brand, or 120$ for one pair of leggings. Stay tuned for part two, and feel free to ask about certain brands to review!

  1. I recently started thinking the same thing about Lulu’s I have about 8 pairs and even the new ones seemed to be stretched out after about only 6 months which is very dissapointing. Have you tried gymshark seamless leggings?I been tempted to purchase those I see them all over IG.
